How appropriate for this Real Estate Market…..  Brian Buffini helps me to make lemonade out of lemons.  My clients have been the greatest this year and not only helped me with my success, but referred  others to me so they could take advantage of selling and buying homes when so many people are full of fear.  Winning is when confidence outshines fear and negativity.

Thank you for helping make this a great year. Yes, several hurdles with appraisal  issues, lending got tighter, inventory was less ( a good thing), and sometimes multiple offers made, but all in all, we all made it happen to our benefit.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same:
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

“Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow”, Please not any more. I need to get that song out of my head and be singing, “I’m leaving on a jet plane.”
My video of  Waterford Creek says it all!  This was just after the first snowfall in February, I can’t wait to post some more pictures after today!
They are right about one thing… Virginia is for lovers! Are we lovers of snow. Lovers of snow that is… hardly. We certainly are having our share this season. It seems like I to find myself always doing my real estate business in the snow lately.
Ashburn had plenty of problems when we had our first snow fall a couple of weeks ago. I wrote a contract for my client on a great little 2 bedroom condo at Parkside at Ashburn, but when I left our Long & Foster , it sure did not look like it did when we arrived. This group of condos is unique and one I find many clients want since it is one of the few which is gated, very upscale with its own exercise room, and cyber business center. Big plus is there is on HOA fee to be paid to Ashburn or, Brambleton and The Broadlands. Owners need only pay a condo fee!
I soon found myself with windshield wipers not working, and facing drivers who did have expert driving skills needed in this the fast, fallen snow. I had to show off my own driving ability to my client and be good at it, after all she was a Fairfax County police officer. It seems I quite often find myself in these types of situations.
Yesterday, I met my client’s home inspector, John Enright, at the beautiful old home on Silocott Springs, outside of Purcellville.

It was built in the 1800’s according to the tax records, but the previous owners informed me that it was hospital during the Cival War. Ironically, the purchaser who I am representing is a Colonel in the US Army Medical Corp, a NDU Command Surgeon.
Yes, I do believe things happen for a reason, and I also believe each home is made for the special people who belong there. I saw my clients’ eyes flicker as they imagined living there. They just got the feeling this home felt like an old pair of shoes… it was perfect for them, comfortable, and seemed to meet their needs. I just got the feeling they knew it was theirs. My job became one of a consultant who can advise them of their options. So here I am, making sure we do not find Radon.
Anyway, John and I found ourselves walking down Rt 690 and digging our way into the front door. The Radon test that he had set up during our Home Inspection needed to picked up so we could either have that contingency removed or ask for the home to be re-mediated. More snow was coming, so we knew this might be our only chance. I couldn’t wait to tell them the Radon test results came in at below EPA levels. 🙂
So now you know. Very few of us Realtors sit around and wait for the phone to ring, well some might, but this gal is never sitting around.. so if I don’t always answer your call, please keep in mind, I most likely am making sure my clients get the best service possible. little do they ever imagine, I am scouring snow banks to get them what they need to make sure their interest in served.
